Participant Selection

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must have lived or worked in Alexandria for at least one year or submit a statement of relevance indicating their connection to Alexandria
  • Must have decision-making responsibility within their business/organization and/or high potential for leadership
  • Must show evidence of leadership in the workplace, community or both
  • Must be willing to commit the required time to Leadership Alexandria
  • Must be committed to utilizing their leadership skills and knowledge for the long-term benefit of the community
Nominations

Nominations for participants in Leadership Alexandria may be made by members of organizations, businesses, individuals, or you may nominate yourself.

Selection

An anonymous selection committee will give careful attention to choosing a class that represents a cross-section of the public, private, and non-profit communities. Participants will be active in business, education, associations, the arts, religion, government, community-based organizations, ethnic and minority groups. They will reflect the diversity of the Alexandria community with a balanced gender, race, socioeconomic and geographic representation that closely parallels the demographics of the area.
