  • Support for transportation projects such as the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, which ease traffic congestion in Alexandria
  • Leadership in finding employee and public parking solutions in Old Town and other areas of Alexandria
  • Analysis of all tax proposals and the City’s proposed operating budget
  • Ongoing development of task forces to address issues impacting Alexandria’s business community and quality of life
  • The defeat of the commercial add-on tax and the establishment of the City's transportation reserve created to fund needed transportation projects.

Member Celebrations

The Alexandria Chamber of Commerce would like to help publicize your grand opening, reopening or renovation. Let the Chamber make this an exciting event and build recognition for your business.
The Chamber can provide:

  • A giant pair of scissors, ribbon, and two large bows. When possible we will match your company colors.
  • Chamber President & CEO, Chairman of the Chamber’s  Board, or another Chamber official to be present and make congratulatory remarks as necessary.
  • Publicity in our electronic newsletter sent to more than 1,800 member companies before and after the event and including a photo of the actual ribbon-cutting.
  • Invitations or advice on invitations to Chamber members, elected officials, and the media. We will encourage members of our Board of Directors to attend.

We request that you:

  • Set the date and time of the event and coordinate with Chamber staff as far in advance as possible - preferrably at least 30 days.
  • Determine who should be invited (see above) and communicate with Chamber staff.
  • Provide a digital version of your logo to membership@alexchamber.com
  • Prepare a detailed agenda addressing the following. The Chamber is happy to guide you as you prepare your agenda:
    1. Who will be speaking, when, and for how long? Typical speakers include company representatives, VIPs, elected officials, board members, and those instrumental in the opening.
    2. Where will key participants stand during the actual ribbon-cutting?
    3. When, exactly, will the ribbon cutting and other parts of the ceremony take place?
    4. What other special programming, such as prize-giveaways, refreshments, parking instructions, etc. will you include? We encourage providing refreshments in order to promote greater attendance.
    5. What should Chamber representatives know when preparing remarks? We welcome your guidance.
